Why are there different leathers?
Well there are not really different leathers more different finishes.By far the most common are pigmented or painted leathers, these are where a paint has been applied to the leather making it almost impervious to dirt but not too oils, grease etc.
There are several different leather finishes.
Pigmented, these are usually cream or brown but can be any colour.
Aniline, these can be easily damaged by spillages and should be treated with a protector.
Semi aniline
Suede and Nubuck, both of these are very prone to permanent marking by spillages as they are very absorbent.
Different cleaning methods are used to clean all of these and it is important the leather cleaner or you if you are trying DIY know the difference. If a Nubuck or Suede is wet cleaned then there could be terrible results, but there are a number of Faux suedes which should be wet cleaned and will be permanently damaged by using solvents.
As you can see getting it wrong can be very costly so it is usually better to employ a professional leather cleaner. Before attempting anything with leather it is best to work out which type you have.
Pigmented leathers are usually one colour but may have a different top finish to give an antique look, they will not wet out with water i.e should not change colour. Aniline and semi aniline will wet out and darken with water , although this will usually disappear as it dries.
Suede and Nubuck will wet out and become 'matted'.
Many people see leather as a maintenance free product and this is where many problem lay, regular wiping with a damp cloth will remove much of the soiling and add a bit of moisture in the process.It is always best to avoid baby wipes etc as these may damage the protective top coat causing future problems.

First and foremost it is not really a yorkie chewing problem. It is your yorkshire terrier instinct to chew its natural for them. Reward him when he starts chewing on his chew toy with a treat or praise him.
If your puppy likes to naw on you or the kids in the middle of a play session immediately pause all play and say ouch. In his mind he should start to learn that biting is not acceptable. Some dog chewing problem can easily be corrected with the just intelligence. Keep items like shoes in closed closets, all kids toys in chest, books and other items should be kept out of reach of the puppy. If you see any tempting items that your puppy might like take the appropriate action.
Praising and rewarding your puppy will help to understand better what is not to be chewed on and what is. He will start to wonder where is his treats and the good boys when he is chewing on the sofa corner and will understand that it is wrong.
